She Will See That She Is Made Of Galaxies

Can you see the sadness in her eyes?
That’s all everyone sees now

But if you look deeper

You’ll see the ocean in her eyes
You’ll see the wonder in her heart
You’ll see the stars within her soul
You’ll see the universe in her being Continue reading

Crammers’ Collective: A Fresh Take On Improv

Improv or improvisation is a form of theatre where everything that is performed is unplanned and unscripted. From the words of an improviser, “The process of improv is by virtue, unpredictable. Unlike being able to fall back on a script, improvisers have to go on stage and be able to just go forth. Ultimately, it’s like banging rocks together; persist and persist until you create the spark that sets the scene on fire.” It is completely spontaneous and it is an absolute treat to watch. One of the up and coming improv groups here in Manila is Crammers’ Collective.

Crammers’ Collective is an all boy improv group consisting of twelve members whose ages range from 15-19. Their group consists of the youngest people in the improv scene.
They have been performing for a year now, having regular shows and even performing at the Manila Improv Festival where improv groups from around the world went to Manila to perform. They will be having another fun-filled show on May 27, 2017 at PARC Foundation, 8 pm onwards.

2016: The Year of Realizing Stuff; 2017: The Year To Just Go For It

For the past three or four years, I’ve made it my personal tradition to do something new with my hair in preparation for the new year. It’s become my way of saying good bye to the previous year and kind of preparing myself for the next. Now, I’ve always wanted to try short hair but I’ve always been too afraid because I’ve always had long hair. With all the things that happened this year however, I decided to just go for it and cut my hair. The First Ever Le Grand Cirque Manila

Le Grand Cirque show has always piqued my  interest since I saw a commercial on TV a few months back. Last December 21, 2016,  Araneta Group invited me to watch the special December 24, 2016 show, and I immediately said yes. I had very high expectations especially since this is their first ever show in the Philippines. I can without a doubt say that I was not disappointed. If you want to see a few video clips check out my Facebook page Mitzi Jonelle. Continue reading

Do’s and Don’t’s of a Photo Shoot

Last June 25, 2016, I got the chance to shoot with Mr. Denys Jan Lee of 1225 studios, and it was an absolute blast. It was my first photo shoot in a long time so I was really excited but also a bit nervous. Unlike my past shoots, I didn’t have as much time to prepare for this shoot since it was scheduled on such short notice. Nevertheless, I still tried my best to be ready for the day of my shoot.

Here’s a few do’s and don’t’s to make the best out of photo shoots: Continue reading

Summer Eve

PicsArt_08-31-12.48.50

I’m in the middle of a lake that’s covered with ice. I notice that the ice was starting to melt and it was getting pretty thin. I don’t even know how I got here. It’s like I just woke up and suddenly I was in the middle of that lake. I try to take a step but the ice cracks from the pressure, but I know I can’t just stay in place either.

I keep willing the ice to hold together, willing the cold to stay so the ice doesn’t break. I keep walking, searching for a place that’s safe, but all I see for miles and miles is the frozen lake.

I know at any moment I could fall through and drown.

Book Review: To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

“This is the moment I realize I don’t love him, that I haven’t for a while. That maybe I never did. Because he’s right there for the taking: I could kiss him again; I could make him mine. But I don’t want him. I want someone else. It feels strange to have spent so much time wishing for something, for someone, and then one day, suddenly, to just stop.”

Blurb:

Lara Jean keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her. They aren’t love letters that anyone else wrote for her, these are ones she’s written. One for every boy she’s ever loved

When she writes, she can pour out her heart and soul and say all the things she would never say in real life, because her letters are for her eyes only.

Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly Lara Jean’s love life goes from imaginary to out of control.

If you’re having a pretty bad week, and you need a book that will make you smile, I highly recommend this book. It’s just one of those books where you can’t help but feel good and warm inside. It’s a fun, charming, and heartfelt read. While I was reading the book and even when I was done, I would smile to myself as I remembered the story. The main plot of the book is about Lara Jean and her complicated love life. However, I think it is the relationship of the three sisters and their family dynamics that make this book something special. Continue reading

Styles and Bites 2016: Food, Flair, Finds

According to their page, Styles and Bites is a “festival of finely curated flavors and fanciful finds for the metro’s pleasure-seeking foodies and shoppers.” Anyone who knows me knows that fashion and food are at the top of the things I love. Naturally, when I was asked by Manila Bazaars to go to the Styles and Bites bazaar last July 2, 2016, I said yes. For only a fee of Php 100, Styles and Bites can be “your urban escape to all things food and fashion.”
