Book Review: To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

“This is the moment I realize I don’t love him, that I haven’t for a while. That maybe I never did. Because he’s right there for the taking: I could kiss him again; I could make him mine. But I don’t want him. I want someone else. It feels strange to have spent so much time wishing for something, for someone, and then one day, suddenly, to just stop.”

Lara Jean keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her. They aren’t love letters that anyone else wrote for her, these are ones she’s written. One for every boy she’s ever loved

When she writes, she can pour out her heart and soul and say all the things she would never say in real life, because her letters are for her eyes only.

Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly Lara Jean’s love life goes from imaginary to out of control.

If you’re having a pretty bad week, and you need a book that will make you smile, I highly recommend this book. It’s just one of those books where you can’t help but feel good and warm inside. It’s a fun, charming, and heartfelt read. While I was reading the book and even when I was done, I would smile to myself as I remembered the story. The main plot of the book is about Lara Jean and her complicated love life. However, I think it is the relationship of the three sisters and their family dynamics that make this book something special. Continue reading

Book Review: In His Corner by Vina Arno

“Change is an understatement. Tame is more like it. To you, I’m a wild bull that needs taming. That’s what you’ve been doing all along.”

Work Out
No sex for almost a year could kill a guy, but when you’re the boxer known as the Juggernaut, it’s the price you pay for turning pro. Tommy’s fully dedicated to his craft, until he meets the incredibly gorgeous Dr. Siena Carr. Now he’s looking forward to taking on this prim and proper lady in a wet and wild work-out…

Knock Out
Siena has seen many patients come through the ER, but none as sexy as Tommy Raines. With a nasty cut over his eye, she knows he needs stitches, but after he takes off his shirt, she needs some air. With rock-hard abs and taut biceps, it’s clear this man takes care of his body. And all Siena can think about is letting him take care of hers…

From the beginning, the sexual tension between the two characters is clear. The only thing we are more sure of than them being attracted to one another is that they are complete opposites.  Can the macho guy and the sweet girl from two completely different backgrounds make it work? Sweet Escape

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies… The man who never reads lives only one.” -George R.R. Martin

Some of you may have noticed that I don’t rate books. I guess it’s because to be able to rate a book fairly, I would have to have a set criteria for books. I don’t think I can ever find a good enough criteria for books though. I could compare them to each other but each book is so different from the next, even books by the same author. I can’t rate books based on how I feel because I read them at different points of my life, in different emotional states. Continue reading

Book Review: November 9 by Colleen Hoover

“When you left last year, you left with my soul in your hands and my heart in your teeth, and I knew I would never get either of them back. You can keep them, I don’t really need them anymore.”

Fallon meets Ben, an aspiring novelist, the day before her scheduled cross-country move. Their untimely attraction leads them to spend Fallon’s last day in L.A. together, and her eventful life becomes the creative inspiration Ben has always sought for his novel. Over time and amidst the various relationships and tribulations of their own separate lives, they continue to meet on the same date every year. Until one day Fallon becomes unsure if Ben has been telling her the truth or fabricating a perfect reality for the sake of the ultimate plot twist.

This book has a great plot that will make you laugh and bring you to tears in a matter of a few pages. It definitely surpassed all my expectations especially because I did not expect the plot twist at all. The plot twist I was thinking of was so far from what actually happened.

Newbie Dream Chaser

We all have dreams in life. This usually involves having a good job, being successful, having a family, and being happy. As we get older, this general idea becomes more specific, we choose what we want to be in the future, how we’re going to achieve that goal, what college we’ll go to, etc. However, along the way there are dreams that people usually just write off as hobbies, dreams that are sometimes seen as impractical or near impossible. Dreams we leave as dreams.
